Still from the Galentines Day episode of Parks and Rec

So, whilst February 14th is a day to celebrate romantic love, according to Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler in Parks and Rec) February 13th is a day to celebrate our favourite friends – the sisters you choose, those you can call on no matter what.

I think we should all celebrate our friends at any opportunity, but a dedicated day to celebrate your girlfriends is a lovely thing. We look at some of the cute ways you can celebrate this made up holiday and spread a little bit of extra love this year.

Organise Brunch

Why not get your girls together and celebrate your friendship with bucks fizz and pancakes? Either choose your favourite breakfast venue or host at your house, if it’s good enough for Leslie Knope it’s good enough for you right?

Send a card

If you can’t be together why not write your bestie a cute card and pop it in the post? You could even use a service like Moonpig or Funky Pigeon to send a card directly (a quick search shows they even have dedicated cards!).

You might want to demonstrate your love for your friend with a gift. It doesn’t have to be expensive, it might just be a little token. There are some wonderful Valentines and Galentines gift guides out there showing some of the beautiful gifts you could choose from.

Share a picture of your friends on social media

Find your favourite group picture and share it on social media with a heartfelt message of love to your soul sisters.

Watch Parks and Rec

In honour of the founder of the holiday why not fire up Season 2, Episode 16 and see where it all started (In fact I say watch as many episodes as you can!).

However you celebrate Galentine’s Day this year, do take a moment to tell your friends how much they mean to you, and don’t forget to celebrate yourself too. You could even enter our giveaway to win a hamper to help you celebrate your friends.
